THIS WEBSITE IS IN TRIBUTE TO THE WORLDS MOST ENDURING MOTORCYCLE

THE INDIAN

My name is Jim Lambert and since an early age I have been mildly obsessed by what I consider to be one of the wonders of the engineering world, the Indian Chief.

I own and maintain a 1947Chief, a bike I call the 'Old Dog', this machine has carried me safely and sometimes comfortably across Europe, through storm and heatwave

this almost 60 year old contraption has never failed me ....... yet.

This website is a document of these journeys and is an attempt to reveal some of the problems and fixes that the rider of any veteran v-twin confronts on the road.

These pages are dedicated to the fond memory of my good mate and all round grease genius. KENNY BELL. (Da Beard) who managed to ram my Bonneville with his BSA A10 while rolling a smoke......

Roll on Kenny.
